사무엘하 14:1-15:23

 암논 사건으로 그술 땅에 피신해 있던 압살롬은 요압의 중재로 다시 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다. 그러나 귀환한 압살롬은 병력을 확보하고 민심을 사는 등 치밀한 계획하에 반란을 일으켰다. 다윗은 민심이 이미 압살롬에게 기운 것을 알고 황급히 도피했다.
  
  압살롬의 귀환(14:1-14:33)    
 
  1. 왕의 마음이 압살롬에게로 쏠리는 것을, 스루야의 아들 요압이 알았다.
  2. 요압이 드고아로 사람을 보내어, 거기에서 슬기로운 여인 한 사람을 데리고 와서 부탁하였다. "그대는 초상당한 여인처럼 행동하시오. 몸에는 상복을 입고, 머리에는 기름도 바르지 말고, 이미 오랫동안, 죽은 사람을 애도한 여인처럼 꾸민 다음에,
  3. 임금님 앞으로 나아가서, 내가 일러주는 대로 호소하시오." 요압은 그 여인에게, 할 말을 일러주었다.
  4. 드고아에서 온 그 여인은 왕에게로 나아가서, 얼굴이 땅에 닿도록 엎드려서 절을 한 뒤에 "임금님, 저를 살려 주십시오" 하고 애원하였다.
  5. 왕이 여인에게 "무슨 일이냐?" 하고 물으니, 그 여인이 이렇게 하소연하였다. "저는 남편이 죽어서, 가련한 과부가 되었습니다.
  1. Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king's heart was inclined toward Absalom.
  2. So Joab sent to Tekoa and brought a wise woman from there and said to her, "Please pretend to be a mourner, and put on mourning garments now, and do not anoint yourself with oil, but be like a woman who has been mourning for the dead many days;
  3. then go to the king and speak to him in this manner." So Joab put the words in her mouth.
  4. Now when the woman of Tekoa spoke to the king, she fell on her face to the ground and prostrated herself and said, "Help, O king."
  5. The king said to her, "What is your trouble?" And she answered, "Truly I am a widow, for my husband is dead.
  1. 이 여종에게 두 아들이 있는데, 들에서 서로 싸우다가, 말리는 사람이 없으므로, 아들 하나가 다른 아들을 죽였습니다.
  2. 그런데 이제는 온 집안이 들고 일어나서, 이 종에게, 형제를 때려 죽인 그 아들을 내놓으라고 합니다. 죽은 형제의 원수를 갚고, 살인자를 죽여서, 상속자마저 없애 버리겠다고 합니다. 그들은 저에게 남아 있는 불씨마저도 꺼 버려서, 제 남편이 이 땅에 이름도 자손도 남기지 못하게 하려고 합니다."
  3. 다 듣고 난 왕은 여인에게 말하였다. "이 문제를 두고서는, 내가 직접 명령을 내리겠으니, 집으로 돌아가거라."
  4. 그러나 드고아 여인은 왕에게 아뢰었다. "우리의 높으신 임금님께서 무엇을 하시든지, 이 일에 있어서 허물은 저와 제 아버지의 집안에 있습니다. 임금님과 왕실에는 아무런 허물이 없습니다."
  5. 왕이 대답하였다. "누구든지 너를 위협하거든, 그를 나에게로 데리고 오너라. 아무도 너를 괴롭히지 못하게 하겠다."
  1. "Your maidservant had two sons, but the two of them struggled together in the field, and there was no one to separate them, so one struck the other and killed him.
  2. "Now behold, the whole family has risen against your maidservant, and they say, 'Hand over the one who struck his brother, that we may put him to death for the life of his brother whom he killed, and destroy the heir also.' Thus they will extinguish my coal which is left, so as to leave my husband neither name nor remnant on the face of the earth."
  3. Then the king said to the woman, "Go to your house, and I will give orders concerning you."
  4. The woman of Tekoa said to the king, "O my lord, the king, the iniquity is on me and my father's house, but the king and his throne are guiltless."
  5. So the king said, "Whoever speaks to you, bring him to me, and he will not touch you anymore."
  1. 여인은 또 간청하였다. "그러면 임금님, 임금님께서 섬기시는 주 하나님께 간구하셔서, 저의 죽은 아들의 원수를 갚으려고 하는 집안 사람들이 살아 있는 저의 아들까지 죽이는 크나큰 범죄를 저지르지 못하게 막아 주시기를 바랍니다." 왕이 대답하였다. "주님께서 확실히 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하지만, 네 아들의 머리카락 하나도 땅에 떨어지지 않게 하겠다."
  2. 그 여인이 또 간청하였다. "이 종이 높으신 임금님께 한 말씀만 더 드리도록 허락하여 주시기 바랍니다." 왕이 그렇게 하라고 하니,
  3. 그 여인이 이렇게 말하였다. "어찌하여 임금님께서는 하나님의 백성에게 그처럼 그릇된 일을 하셨습니까? 임금님께서는 임금님의 친아들인 왕자님이 이 나라로 돌아오는 것을 허락하지 않으셨습니다. 이러한 처사는 지금까지 이 종에게 말씀하신 것과는 다릅니다. 임금님께서는 그렇게 말씀만 하시고, 왕자님을 부르지 않으셨으니, 이것은 잘못된 일이라고 생각합니다.
  4. 우리는 다 죽습니다. 땅에 쏟으면, 다시 담을 수 없는 물과 같습니다. 그러나 하나님은 생명을 빼앗지 않으시고 방책을 베푸셔서 비록 내어쫓긴 자라 하더라도 어떻게 해서든지 하나님께 버림받은 자가 되지 않게 하십니다.
  5. 높으신 임금님, 제가 지금 임금님을 찾아 뵙고서 이런 말씀을 드리게 된 까닭은, 제가 친척들의 위협을 받으면서, 이 문제를 임금님께 아뢰면, 임금님께서 제가 간구하는 바를 들어 주실 것이라는 확신이 섰기 때문입니다.
  1. Then she said, "Please let the king remember the LORD your God, so that the avenger of blood will not continue to destroy, otherwise they will destroy my son " And he said, "As the LORD lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the ground."
  2. Then the woman said, "Please let your maidservant speak a word to my lord the king." And he said, "Speak."
  3. The woman said, "Why then have you planned such a thing against the people of God? For in speaking this word the king is as one who is guilty, in that the king does not bring back his banished one.
  4. "For we will surely die and are like water spilled on the ground which cannot be gathered up again Yet God does not take away life, but plans ways so that the banished one will not be cast out from him.
  5. "Now the reason I have come to speak this word to my lord the king is that the people have made me afraid; so your maidservant said, 'Let me now speak to the king, perhaps the king will perform the request of his maidservant.
  1. 저의 집안 사람들이 저와 저의 아들을 죽이려 하고, 하나님이 주신 이 땅에서 끊어 버리려고 하지마는, 임금님께서 저의 사정을 들어서 아시면, 구원하여 주실 것이라고 생각하였습니다.
  2. 이 종은 또, 높으신 임금님께서는 말씀으로 저를 안심시켜 주실 것이라고 믿었습니다. 임금님은 바로 하나님의 천사와 같은 분이시니까, 저의 호소를 들으시고 선악을 가려내실 것이라고도 생각하였습니다. 임금님이 섬기시는 주 하나님께서 늘 임금님과 함께 계시기를 바랍니다."
  3. 마침내 왕이 그 여인에게 물었다. "너는 내가 묻는 말을, 내 앞에서 조금도 숨기지 말고 대답하여라." 그 여인이 대답하였다. "높으신 임금님의 분부대로 하겠습니다."
  4. 왕이 물었다. "너에게 이 모든 일을 시킨 사람은 바로 요압이렷다?" 여인이 대답하였다. "높으신 임금님, 임금님께서 확실히 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하지만, 높으신 임금님께서 무슨 말씀을 하시면, 오른쪽으로든 왼쪽으로든, 피할 길이 없습니다. 저에게 이런 일을 시킨 사람은 임금님의 신하 요압입니다. 그가 이 모든 말을 이 종의 입에 담아 주었습니다.
  5. 왕자님의 일을 잘 되게 하여 보려고, 임금님의 신하 요압이 이런 일을 꾸민 것은 사실입니다. 그러나 임금님께서는 하나님의 천사처럼 슬기로우시므로, 일어난 모든 일을 다 아실 줄 압니다."
  1. 'For the king will hear and deliver his maidservant from the hand of the man who would destroy both me and my son from the inheritance of God.'
  2. "Then your maidservant said, 'Please let the word of my lord the king be comforting, for as the angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and evil. And may the LORD your God be with you.'"
  3. Then the king answered and said to the woman, "Please do not hide anything from me that I am about to ask you." And the woman said, "Let my lord the king please speak."
  4. So the king said, "Is the hand of Joab with you in all this?" And the woman replied, "As your soul lives, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right or to the left from anything that my lord the king has spoken. Indeed, it was your servant Joab who commanded me, and it was he who put all these words in the mouth of your maidservant;
  5. in order to change the appearance of things your servant Joab has done this thing. But my lord is wise, like the wisdom of the angel of God, to know all that is in the earth."
  1. 그러자 왕이 직접 요압에게 명령을 내렸다. "보시오, 내가 장군의 뜻대로 하기로 결심하였으니, 가서, 그 어린 아이 압살롬을 데려오시오."
  2. 요압이 얼굴을 땅에 대고 절을 하면서 말하였다. "하나님께서 임금님께 복을 베푸시기를 빕니다. 높으신 임금님이 이 종의 간청을 이렇게 들어 주시니, 이 종이 임금님의 총애를 입은 줄을 오늘에야 알았습니다."
  3. 그리고는 요압이 일어나 그술로 가서, 압살롬을 데리고 예루살렘으로 왔다.
  4. 그러나 왕의 지시는 단호하였다. "그를 집으로 돌아가게 하여라. 그러나 내 얼굴은 볼 수 없다." 그리하여 압살롬은 아버지에게 인사도 하지 못하고, 자기 집으로 돌아갔다.
  5. 온 이스라엘에, 압살롬처럼, 머리끝에서 발끝까지 흠 잡을 데가 하나도 없는 미남은 없다고, 칭찬이 자자하였다.
  1. Then the king said to Joab, "Behold now, I will surely do this thing; go therefore, bring back the young man Absalom."
  2. Joab fell on his face to the ground, prostrated himself and blessed the king; then Joab said, "Today your servant knows that I have found favor in your sight, O my lord, the king, in that the king has performed the request of his servant."
  3. So Joab arose and went to Geshur and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.
  4. However the king said, "Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face." So Absalom turned to his own house and did not see the king's face.
  5. Now in all Israel was no one as handsome as Absalom, so highly praised; from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head there was no defect in him.
  1. 그는 머리 숱이 많아 무거워지면, 해마다 연말에 한 번씩 머리를 깎았는데, 머리를 깎고 나서 그 머리카락을 달아 보면, 왕궁 저울로 이백 세겔이나 되었다.
  2. 압살롬에게는 아들 셋과 딸 하나가 있었다. 그 딸의 이름은 다말인데, 생김새가 아주 예뻤다.
  3. 압살롬은 예루살렘으로 돌아와서 두 해를 지냈는데도, 왕의 얼굴을 한 번도 뵙지 못하였다.
  4. 압살롬이 요압을 왕에게 보내 보려고 요압에게 사람을 보냈으나, 요압은 압살롬을 방문하지 않았다. 두 번째로 다시 사람을 보냈으나, 그는 여전히 오지 않았다.
  5. 그러자 압살롬이 자기의 종들을 불러다가 지시하였다. "내 밭 곁에 요압의 밭이 있다. 그가 거기에 보리 농사를 지어 놓았으니, 너희는 가서, 그 밭에다가 불을 질러라." 그래서 압살롬의 종들이 그 밭에 불을 질렀다.
  1. When he cut the hair of his head (and it was at the end of every year that he cut it, for it was heavy on him so he cut it), he weighed the hair of his head at 200 shekels by the king's weight.
  2. To Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter whose name was Tamar; she was a woman of beautiful appearance.
  3. Now Absalom lived two full years in Jerusalem, and did not see the king's face.
  4. Then Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king, but he would not come to him. So he sent again a second time, but he would not come.
  5. Therefore he said to his servants, "See, Joab's field is next to mine, and he has barley there; go and set it on fire." So Absalom's servants set the field on fire.
  1. 그러자 요압이 압살롬의 집으로 찾아가서 따졌다. "어찌하여 종들을 시켜, 나의 밭에다가 불을 질렀습니까?"
  2. 압살롬이 요압에게 대답하였다. "이것 보시오. 나는 이미 장군에게 사람을 보내어서, 좀 와 달라고 부탁을 하였소. 장군을 임금님께 보내어서, 나를 왜 그술에서 돌아오게 하였는지, 여쭈어 보고 싶었소. 여기에서 이렇게 살 바에야, 차라리 그 곳에 그대로 있는 것이 더욱 좋을 뻔 하였소. 이제 나는 임금님의 얼굴을 뵙고 싶소. 나에게 아직도 무슨 죄가 남아 있으면, 차라리 죽여 달라고 하더라고 말씀을 드려 주시오."
  3. 그래서 요압이 왕에게 나아가서, 이 일을 상세히 아뢰니, 왕이 압살롬을 불렀다. 압살롬이 왕에게 나아가서, 왕 앞에서 얼굴이 땅에 닿도록 절을 하자, 왕이 압살롬에게 입을 맞추었다.
  1. Then Joab arose, came to Absalom at his house and said to him, "Why have your servants set my field on fire?"
  2. Absalom answered Joab, "Behold, I sent for you, saying, 'Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, "Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me still to be there."' Now therefore, let me see the king's face, and if there is iniquity in me, let him put me to death."
  3. So when Joab came to the king and told him, he called for Absalom. Thus he came to the king and prostrated himself on his face to the ground before the king, and the king kissed Absalom.
 
  압살롬의 반역(15:1-15:23)    
 
  1. 그 뒤에 압살롬은 자기가 탈 수레와 말 여러 필을 마련하고, 호위병도 쉰 명이나 거느렸다.
  2. 그리고 압살롬은 아침마다 일찍 일어나서, 성문으로 들어오는 길 가에 서 있곤 하였다. 그러다가, 소송할 일이 있어서, 판결을 받으려고 왕을 찾아오는 사람이 있으면, 압살롬은 그를 불러서, 어느 성읍에서 오셨느냐고 묻곤 하였다. 그 사람이 자기의 소속 지파를 밝히면,
  3. 압살롬은 그에게 "듣고 보니, 다 옳고 정당한 말이지만 그 사정을 대신 말해 줄 사람이 왕에게는 없소" 하고 말하였다. 압살롬은 늘 이런 식으로 말하곤 하였다.
  4. 더욱이 압살롬은 이런 말도 하였다. "누가 나를 이 나라의 재판관으로 세워 주기만 하면, 누구든지 소송 문제가 있을 때에 나를 찾아와서 판결을 받을 수가 있을 것이고, 나는 그에게 공정한 판결을 내려 줄 것이오."
  5. 또 누가 가까이 와서 엎드려서 절을 하려고 하면, 그는 손을 내밀어서 그를 일으켜 세우고, 그의 뺨에 입을 맞추곤 하였다.
  1. Now it came about after this that Absalom provided for himself a chariot and horses and fifty men as runners before him.
  2. Absalom used to rise early and stand beside the way to the gate; and when any man had a suit to come to the king for judgment, Absalom would call to him and say, "From what city are you?" And he would say, "Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel."
  3. Then Absalom would say to him, "See, your claims are good and right, but no man listens to you on the part of the king."
  4. Moreover, Absalom would say, "Oh that one would appoint me judge in the land, then every man who has any suit or cause could come to me and I would give him justice."
  5. And when a man came near to prostrate himself before him, he would put out his hand and take hold of him and kiss him.
  1. 압살롬은, 왕에게 판결을 받으려고 오는 모든 이스라엘 사람에게 이런 식으로 하였다. 압살롬은 이렇게 하여 이스라엘 사람의 마음을 사로잡았다.
  2. 이렇게 네 해가 지났을 때에 압살롬이 왕에게 아뢰었다. "제가 주님께 서원한 것이 있으니, 헤브론으로 내려가서 저의 서원을 이루게 하여 주십시오.
  3. 이 종이 시리아의 그술에 머물 때에, 주님께서 저를 다시 예루살렘으로 돌려보내 주기만 하시면, 제가 헤브론으로 가서 주님께 예배를 드리겠다고 서원을 하였습니다.
  4. 왕이 그에게 평안히 다녀오라고 허락하니, 압살롬은 곧바로 헤브론으로 내려갔다.
  5. 그러나 압살롬은 이스라엘의 모든 지파에게 첩자들을 보내서, 나팔 소리가 나거든 "압살롬이 헤브론에서 왕이 되었다!" 하고 외치라고 하였다.
  1. In this manner Absalom dealt with all Israel who came to the king for judgment; so Absalom stole away the hearts of the men of Israel.
  2. Now it came about at the end of forty years that Absalom said to the king, "Please let me go and pay my vow which I have vowed to the LORD, in Hebron.
  3. "For your servant vowed a vow while I was living at Geshur in Aram, saying, 'If the LORD shall indeed bring me back to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD.'"
  4. The king said to him, "Go in peace." So he arose and went to Hebron.
  5. But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, "As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, 'Absalom is king in Hebron.'"
  1. 그 때에 이백 명이 압살롬과 함께 예루살렘에서 헤브론으로 내려갔다. 그들은 손님으로 초청받은 것일 뿐이며, 압살롬의 음모를 전혀 알지 못한 채로, 그저 따라가기만 한 사람들이다.
  2. 압살롬은 또 사람을 보내어서, 다윗의 참모이던 길로 사람 아히도벨을 그의 성읍인 길로에서 올라오라고 초청하였다. 아히도벨은 길로에서 정규적인 제사 일을 맡아 보고 있었다. 이렇게 반란 세력이 점점 커지니, 압살롬을 따르는 백성도 점점 더 많아졌다.
  3. 전령 한 사람이 다윗에게 와서 보고하였다. "이스라엘 백성의 마음이 모두 압살롬에게로 기울어졌습니다."
  4. 그러자 다윗은 예루살렘에 있는 모든 신하에게 말하였다. "서둘러서 모두 여기에서 도망가자. 머뭇거리다가는 아무도 압살롬의 손에서 살아 남지 못할 것이다. 어서 이 곳을 떠나가자. 그가 곧 와서 우리를 따라잡으면, 우리에게도 재앙을 입히고, 이 도성도 칼로 칠 것이다."
  5. 왕의 신하들이 왕에게 대답하였다. "모든 일은 임금님께서 결정하신 대로 하시기 바랍니다. 이 종들은 그대로 따르겠습니다."
  1. Then two hundred men went with Absalom from Jerusalem, who were invited and went innocently, and they did not know anything.
  2. And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices And the conspiracy was strong, for the people increased continually with Absalom.
  3. Then a messenger came to David, saying, "The hearts of the men of Israel are with Absalom."
  4. David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, "Arise and let us flee, for otherwise none of us will escape from Absalom. Go in haste, or he will overtake us quickly and bring down calamity on us and strike the city with the edge of the sword."
  5. Then the king's servants said to the king, "Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king chooses."
  1. 왕은 왕궁을 지킬 후궁 열 명만 남겨 놓고, 온 가족을 거느리고 예루살렘을 떠났다.
  2. 왕이 먼저 나아가니, 모든 백성이 그의 뒤를 따라 나섰다. 그들은 '먼 궁'에 이르자, 모두 멈추어 섰다.
  3. 왕의 신하들이 모두 왕 곁에 서 있는 동안에, 모든 그렛 사람과 모든 블렛 사람이 왕 앞으로 지나가고, 가드에서부터 왕을 따라 온 모든 가드 군인 육백 명도 왕 앞으로 지나갔다.
  4. 왕이 가드 사람 잇대에게 말하였다. "어찌하여 장군은 우리와 함께 가려고 하오? 돌아가 있다가, 새 왕을 모시고 지내도록 하시오. 장군은 외국인이기도 하고, 장군의 본 고장을 두고 보더라도, 쫓겨난 사람이니, 그렇게 하시오.
  5. 장군이 온 것이 바로 엊그제와 같은데, 오늘 내가 그대를 우리와 함께 떠나게 하여서야 되겠소? 더구나 나는 지금 정처없이 떠나는 사람이 아니오? 어서 장군의 동족을 데리고 돌아가시오. 주님께서 은혜와 진실하심으로 장군과 함께 계셔 주시기를 바라오."
  1. So the king went out and all his household with him. But the king left ten concubines to keep the house.
  2. The king went out and all the people with him, and they stopped at the last house.
  3. Now all his servants passed on beside him, all the Cherethites, all the Pelethites and all the Gittites, six hundred men who had come with him from Gath, passed on before the king.
  4. Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, "Why will you also go with us? Return and remain with the king, for you are a foreigner and also an exile; return to your own place.
  5. "You came only yesterday, and shall I today make you wander with us, while I go where I will? Return and take back your brothers; mercy and truth be with you."
  1. 그러나 잇대는 왕에게 대답하였다. "주님께서 확실히 살아 계시고, 임금님께서도 확실히 살아 계심을 두고 맹세합니다만, 그럴 수는 없습니다. 임금님께서 가시는 곳이면, 살든지 죽든지, 이 종도 따라가겠습니다."
  2. 그러자 다윗이 잇대에게 말하였다. "그러면 먼저 건너 가시오." 그리하여 가드 사람 잇대도 자기의 부하들과 자기에게 딸린 아이들을 모두 거느리고 건너 갔다.
  3. 이렇게 해서 다윗의 부하들이 모두 그의 앞을 지나갈 때에, 온 땅이 울음 바다가 되었다. 왕이 기드론 시내를 건너 가니, 그의 부하도 모두 그의 앞을 지나서, 광야 쪽으로 행군하였다.
  1. But Ittai answered the king and said, "As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely wherever my lord the king may be, whether for death or for life, there also your servant will be."
  2. Therefore David said to Ittai, "Go and pass over." So Ittai the Gittite passed over with all his men and all the little ones who were with him.
  3. While all the country was weeping with a loud voice, all the people passed over. The king also passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over toward the way of the wilderness.
