- 어찌하여 전능하신 분께서는, 심판하실 때를 정하여 두지 않으셨을까? 어찌하여 그를 섬기는 사람들이 정당하게 판단받을 날을 정하지 않으셨을까?
- 경계선까지 옮기고 남의 가축을 빼앗아 제 우리에 집어 넣는 사람도 있고,
- 고아의 나귀를 강제로 끌어가는 사람이 있는가 하면, 과부가 빚을 갚을 때까지, 과부의 소를 끌어가는 사람도 있구나.
- 가난한 사람들이 권리를 빼앗기는가 하면, 흙에 묻혀 사는 가련한 사람들이 학대를 견디다 못해 도망가서 숨기도 한다.
- 가난한 사람들은 들나귀처럼 메마른 곳으로 가서 일거리를 찾고 먹거리를 얻으려고 하지만, 어린 아이들에게 먹일 것을 찾을 곳은 빈 들뿐이다.

- "Why are times not stored up by the Almighty, And why do those who know Him not see His days?
- "Some remove the landmarks; They seize and devour flocks.
- "They drive away the donkeys of the orphans; They take the widow's ox for a pledge.
- "They push the needy aside from the road; The poor of the land are made to hide themselves altogether.
- "Behold, as wild donkeys in the wilderness They go forth seeking food in their activity, As bread for their children in the desert.

- 가을걷이가 끝난 남의 밭에서 이삭이나 줍고, 악한 자의 포도밭에서 남은 것이나 긁어 모은다.
- 잠자리에서도 덮을 것이 없으며, 추위를 막아 줄 이불 조각 하나도 없다.
- 산에서 쏟아지는 소낙비에 젖어도, 비를 피할 곳이라고는 바위 밑밖에 없다.
- 아버지 없는 어린 아이를 노예로 빼앗아 가는 자들도 있다. 가난한 사람이 빚을 못 갚는다고 자식을 빼앗아 가는 자들도 있다.
- 가난한 사람들은 입지도 못한 채로 헐벗고 다녀야 한다. 곡식단을 지고 나르지만, 굶주림에 허덕여야 한다.

- "They harvest their fodder in the field And glean the vineyard of the wicked.
- "They spend the night naked, without clothing, And have no covering against the cold.
- "They are wet with the mountain rains And hug the rock for want of a shelter.
- "Others snatch the orphan from the breast, And against the poor they take a pledge.
- "They cause the poor to go about naked without clothing, And they take away the sheaves from the hungry.

- 올리브로 기름을 짜고, 포도로 포도주를 담가도, 그들은 여전히 목말라 한다.
- 성읍 안에서 상처받은 사람들과 죽어 가는 사람들이 소리를 질러도, 하나님은 그들의 간구를 못 들은 체하신다.
- 빛을 싫어하는 사람들이 있다. 그들은 빛이 밝혀 주는 것을 알지 못하며, 빛이 밝혀 주는 길로 가지 않는다.
- 살인하는 자는 새벽에 일어나서 가난한 사람과 궁핍한 사람을 죽이고, 밤에는 도둑질을 한다.
- 간음하는 자는 저물기를 바라며, 사람들이 눈치채지 못할 것이라고 생각하며, 얼굴을 가린다.

- "Within the walls they produce oil; They tread wine presses but thirst.
- "From the city men groan, And the souls of the wounded cry out; Yet God does not pay attention to folly.
- "Others have been with those who rebel against the light; They do not want to know its ways Nor abide in its paths.
- "The murderer arises at dawn; He kills the poor and the needy, And at night he is as a thief.
- "The eye of the adulterer waits for the twilight, Saying, 'No eye will see me.' And he disguises his face.

- 도둑들은 대낮에 털 집을 보아 두었다가, 어두워지면 벽을 뚫고 들어간다. 이런 자들은 하나같이 밝은 한낮에는 익숙하지 못하다.
- 그들은 한낮을 무서워하고, 오히려 어둠 속에서 평안을 누린다.
- 악한 사람은 홍수에 떠내려간다. 그의 밭에는 하나님의 저주가 내리니, 다시는 포도원에 갈 일이 없을 것이다.
- 날이 가물고 무더워지면 눈 녹은 물이 증발하는 것 같이, 죄인들도 그렇게 스올로 사라질 것이다.
- 그러면 그를 낳은 어머니도 그를 잊고, 구더기가 그를 달게 먹는다. 아무도 그를 다시 기억하지 않는다. 악은 결국, 잘린 나무처럼 멸망하고 마는 것이다.

- "In the dark they dig into houses, They shut themselves up by day; They do not know the light.
- "For the morning is the same to him as thick darkness, For he is familiar with the terrors of thick darkness.
- "They are insignificant on the surface of the water; Their portion is cursed on the earth They do not turn toward the vineyards.
- "Drought and heat consume the snow waters, So does Sheol those who have sinned.
- "A mother will forget him; The worm feeds sweetly till he is no longer remembered And wickedness will be broken like a tree.

- 과부를 등쳐 먹고, 자식 없는 여인을 학대하니, 어찌 이런 일이 안 일어나겠느냐?
- 하나님이 그분의 능력으로 강한 사람들을 휘어 잡으시니, 그가 한번 일어나시면 악인들은 생명을 건질 길이 없다.
- 하나님이 악한 자들에게 안정을 주셔서 그들을 평안하게 하여 주시는 듯하지만, 하나님은 그들의 행동을 낱낱이 살피신다.
- 악인들은 잠시 번영하다가 곧 사라지고, 풀처럼 마르고 시들며, 곡식 이삭처럼 잘리는 법이다.
- 내가 한 말을 부인할 사람이 누구냐? 내가 한 말이 모두 진실이 아니라고 공격할 자가 누구냐?

- "He wrongs the barren woman And does no good for the widow.
- "But He drags off the valiant by His power; He rises, but no one has assurance of life.
- "He provides them with security, and they are supported; And His eyes are on their ways.
- "They are exalted a little while, then they are gone; Moreover, they are brought low and like everything gathered up; Even like the heads of grain they are cut off.
- "Now if it is not so, who can prove me a liar, And make my speech worthless?"
