- 그대가 이런 교훈으로 형제자매를 깨우치면, 그대는 믿음의 말씀과 그대가 지금까지 좇고 있는 좋은 교훈으로 양육을 받아 그리스도 예수의 좋은 일꾼이 될 것입니다.
- 저속하고 헛된 꾸며낸 이야기들을 물리치십시오. 경건함에 이르도록 몸을 훈련하십시오.
- 몸의 훈련은 약간의 유익이 있으나, 경건 훈련은 모든 면에 유익하니, 이 세상과 장차 올 세상의 생명을 약속해 줍니다.
- 이 말은 참말이요, 모든 사람이 받아들일 만한 말입니다.
- 우리가 모든 사람 특히 믿는 사람의 구주이신 살아 계신 하나님께 소망을 두므로, 우리는 수고하며 애를 쓰고 있습니다.

- In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following.
- But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;
- for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
- It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance.
- For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.

- 그대는 이것들을 명령하고 가르치십시오.
- 아무도, 그대가 젊다고 해서, 그대를 업신여기지 못하게 하십시오. 도리어 그대는, 말과 행실과 사랑과 믿음과 순결에 있어서, 믿는 이들의 본이 되십시오.
- 내가 갈 때까지, 성경을 읽는 일과 권면하는 일과 가르치는 일에 전념하십시오.
- 그대 속에 있는 은사, 곧 그대가 장로들의 안수를 받을 때에 예언을 통하여 그대에게 주신 그 은사를 소홀히 여기지 마십시오.
- 이 일들을 명심하고 힘써 행하십시오. 그리하여 그대가 발전하는 모습을 모든 사람에게 나타나게 하십시오.

- Prescribe and teach these things.
- Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
- Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching.
- Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery.
- Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.

- 그대 자신과 그대의 가르침을 살피십시오. 이런 일을 계속하십시오. 이렇게 함으로써, 그대 자신도 구원하고, 그대의 말을 듣는 사람들도 구원할 것입니다.

- Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.
