- 성격이 불 같은 사람은 벌을 받는다. 네가 그를 구하여 준다고 해도 그 때뿐, 구하여 줄 일이 또 생길 것이다.
- 충고를 듣고 훈계를 받아들여라. 그리하면 마침내 지혜롭게 된다.
- 사람의 마음에 많은 계획이 있어도, 성취되는 것은 오직 주님의 뜻뿐이다.
- 사람에게서 바랄 것은 성실이다. 거짓말쟁이가 되느니, 차라리 가난뱅이가 되는 것이 낫다.
- 주님을 경외하며 살면 생명을 얻는다. 그는 만족스러운 생활을 하며, 재앙을 만나지 않는다.

- A man of great anger will bear the penalty, For if you rescue him, you will only have to do it again.
- Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days.

- 오만한 사람을 치면, 어수룩한 사람도 깨닫는다. 명철한 사람을 꾸짖으면, 그가 지식을 얻는다.
- 아버지를 구박하고 어머니를 쫓아내는 자식은, 부끄러움과 수치를 끌어들이는 자식이다.
- 아이들아, 지식의 말씀에서 벗어나게 하는 훈계는 듣지 말아라.
- 악한 증인은 정의를 비웃고, 악인의 입은 죄악을 통째로 삼킨다.
