- 음란한 여자는 깊은 구렁이요, 부정한 여자는 좁은 함정이다.
- 강도처럼 남자를 노리고 있다가, 숱한 남자를 변절자로 만든다.
- 재난을 당할 사람이 누구며, 근심하게 될 사람이 누구냐? 다투게 될 사람이 누구며, 탄식할 사람이 누구냐? 까닭도 모를 상처를 입을 사람이 누구며, 눈이 충혈될 사람이 누구냐?
- 늦게까지 술자리에 남아 있는 사람들, 혼합주만 찾아 다니는 사람들이 아니냐!
- 잔에 따른 포도주가 아무리 붉고 고와도, 마실 때에 순하게 넘어가더라도, 너는 그것을 쳐다보지도 말아라.

- For a harlot is a deep pit And an adulterous woman is a narrow well.
- Surely she lurks as a robber, And increases the faithless among men.
- Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?
- Those who linger long over wine, Those who go to taste mixed wine.
- Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it goes down smoothly;

- 그것이 마침내 뱀처럼 너를 물고, 독사처럼 너를 쏠 것이며,
- 눈에는 괴이한 것만 보일 것이며, 입에서는 허튼 소리만 나올 것이다.
- 바다 한가운데 누운 것 같고, 돛대 꼭대기에 누운 것 같을 것이다.
- "사람들이 나를 때렸는데도 아프지 않고, 나를 쳤는데도 아무렇지 않다. 이 술이 언제 깨지? 술이 깨면, 또 한 잔 해야지" 하고 말할 것이다.
